12/28	Tom Halliwell had 3 Canvasback (2 drake & 1 hen) and 1 Redhead (drake) on Lake Musconetcong behind the Hess station on Rt. 183.

12/27	Alan Boyd had an adult N. Shrike on Decker Rd. in Augusta (DeLorme 24, A-4). It was on the wires at the hairpin turn near Glen Brook Nursery.
12/27	Lake Mohawk area: Tim Clauss reports 2 Bald Eagles over the lake. Also: Brown Creeper, GC Kinglet & RB Nuthatch in his yard.
12/27	Mike Muller and Dennis Briede both reported a huge flock of Snow Geese landing on Ervey Road in Allamuchy this morning. Dennis estimated the flock at 20,000. Ervey is off of Johnsonburg Rd.(612). DeLorme 23, K-25.
12/26	John Carey had a Brown Thrasher with 2 Carolina Wrens on his property in Wantage.
12/22	Dennis Briede reports on the Walnut Valley (Blairstown) CBC: a record total 90 species including Wood Duck, Golden Eagle, 14 Bald Eagles, 4 Harriers, 6 RS Hawks, 3 Kestrels, 2 Merlins, Peregrine, 3 Barred Owls, 6 Ravens, RB Nuthatch, Marsh Wren, Savannah Sparrow, Snow Buntings, Rusty BB, Pine Siskin, C. Redpoll, Evening Grosbeak.
12/21	Culvers Lake: Fred Weber had an adult Bald Eagle feeding on the carcass of another adult Bald Eagle on the ice. He also had a Barnacle Goose with Canadas on Rt. 513 in Califon (Hunterdon Co.), about 4.7 miles south of Long Valley.
12/20	Parson Rd., Hampton Twp: Tommy Sudol had a Catbird, an Am. Bittern by the bridge, and a Harrier over the marsh.
12/19	Fred Weber had 2 imm. Iceland Gulls and an adult LBB Gull at the Sussex County landfill in Lafayette. Birders must check in with the receptionist at the administration bldg. Please park and walk only where instructed so that we do not lose the right to bird here.
12/16	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki did a feederwatch at her house and had 15 species including Purple Finch and a visit by an accipiter sp.
12/15	Karyn Cichocki had Kingfisher & RB Nuthatch in her yard in Lafayette, and a Harrier at the corner of Rt 94 & Warbasse Junction Rd.
12/15	Oil City Rd/Wallkill NWR: Jim Schlickenrieder had Rough-legs (2-3 light/ 1 dark), Harriers, Kestrel, White-crowned, Savannah & Chipping Sparrows, Snow Buntings. At Layton, he had the N. Shrike, Coop’s, Raven and Black Vultures. Another Harrier was off Rt 206 in Frankford Twp.
12/11	Swartswood Lake: From Hendershot’s Point, Tommy Sudol had C. Loon, imm. Great Cormorant, Ruddys, C. Mergansers, C. Goldeneyes, and Hooded Mergansers.
12/8	Mike & Barbara Muller had a Tundra Swan in Tranquility where Kennedy Rd. crosses the Pequest River.
12/7	Ron Beard had 2 Black Ducks & over 200 C. Mergansers on Lake Mohawk. Also, he had 2 Sapsuckers in his yard.
12/2	Donna & Don Traylor have C. Redpolls feeding on catkins in their yard in Frankford Twp.
12/2	Mike & Barbara Muller had 100 Horned Larks on manure on Quaker Church Rd. in Allamuchy.
12/1	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki has Fox Sparrow & RB Nuthatch at her feeders, as well as more Goldfinches than usual.
11/28	Allen Barlow had the Layton Shrike visible from the road. (DeLorme 18, I-10) He also saw a mature Bald Eagle near the damaged nest at Little Swartswood Lake. A Crow was harassing a Raven over the lake.
11/27	Mecca Lake: Tommy Sudol had 2 Siskins and 3 Purple Finches at his parents’ feeders.
11/25	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki had RB Nuthatch, Red-tail, Sharpie, and a vocal Raven over her yard.
11/23	John Fuller had 9 Golden Eagles, a Bald Eagle, a Goshawk, & 5 Red-tails at Sunrise Mtn. At Liberty Loop, 11 C. Mergs., 10 Shovelers, Tree & Clay-colored Sparrows. At Hyper Humus, a Merlin.
11/23	Sandy McPhail had a N. Shrike take a Goldfinch in her yard in Portland PA. It wedged the finch in a fork in a Rhododendron branch and was eating it there.
11/21	Maryjean Ellis observed a Pileated Woodpecker off Newton-Sparta Rd. near Drake's Lake.
11/14	Steve Fasciana had a Red-throated Loon on Swartswood Lake off the beach at the state park.
11/14	Ron Beard reported 9 Ruddy Ducks, 7 Buffleheads, and a Horned Grebe on Lake Mohawk.
11/12	Brian Hardiman had a Clay-colored Sparrow near his house in Columbia. On Raccoon Ridge yesterday he had 5 Goshawks & 3 Golden Eagles. A pair of Red Crossbills have been seen at the hawkwatch at 2 different times in the past week.
11/12	Blairstown: Dennis Briede had 10 Purple Finches and 6 Siskins at his feeders. Also, 3 Evening Grosbeaks landed in a tree in his yard.
11/8	Sandy McPhail reports that a friend of hers in Crandon Lakes in Hampton Twp. had 6 Evening Grosbeaks at her feeder and bird bath.
11/6	At Culver Lake, Tommy Sudol had imm. Bald Eagle, Gr. Scaup & Bufflehead. At Swartswood Lake, a male WW Scoter, Ring-necked Duck, Sapsucker, PB Grebes & a pair of Pileated WP.
11/5	Mary Clauss and her family reported seeing a Snow Bunting on Sunrise Mtn. on Sunday 11/4.
11/5	Dennis Pegg had Meadowlark & Pheasant on Phil Hardin Rd. in Fredon. He noted that the Bald Eagle nest at Little Swartswood Lake had blown down in a recent storm, but hopefully they will rebuild.
11/4	Jim Zamos had a Cackling Goose with Canadas at Turtle Pond in Green Twp. From Rt. 206 in Andover, take Rt. 603 toward Hackettstown. The pond is on the left where Pequest Rd. goes right and 603 continues as Airport Rd.
11/4	Portland, PA: Sandy McPhail had 2 RB Nuthatches, a Sapsucker & 30+ Purple Finches in her yard. She also noted a female Harrier hunting near Ross’ Corner in Augusta.
11/4	Karyn Cichocki observed a RB Nuthatch hiding seeds from her feeder around her yard. She also saw a probable Goshawk crossing Beaver Run Rd. in Lafayette.

10/29	Culver Lake: Fred Weber had a juv. Brant, a pair of Long-tailed Ducks, and 3 Buffleheads.
10/20	Sunrise Mountain: John Fuller reported 11 raptor species including both Eagles, RS Hawks, Merlin, Coopers and a possible Rough-leg.
10/18	Karyn Cichocki had over 30 Purple Finches in her yard in Lafayette.
10/14	Blairstown: On his property, Dennis Briede had a number of species including 2 Lincoln’s Sparrows, WC Sparrow, Sapsucker, Winter Wren, Purple Finch, Bald Eagle and Peregrine.
10/13	Maryjean Ellis had 2 Bald Eagles kettling with a pair of Red-tails over Sparta Glen.
10/10	Tommy Sudol had 2 Am. Pipits, 9 Rusty BB, and many Snipe at the Culvers Lake causeway. In his yard in Stillwater, a female Bobwhite, Solitary Vireo, and Magnolia Warbler.

9/30	Blairstown: Dennis Breide had 5 Siskins at his feeders. Around his property: 4 Lincoln’s Sparrows, WT Sparrows, Yellowthroat, Yellow-rumps, BH & RE Vireos, RB Nuthatch.
9/27	Duck Pond/Swartswood Lake: Linda Matula & George Eschenback had BH Vireo, YB Cuckoo, 20-30 BW Teal, GW Teal, 12 Solitary SP, 10 Semipalmated SP, 1 Least SP, Green Heron.
9/23	Parson Rd., Paulinskill WMA: On 9/22 Tommy Sudol had Swainsons & Wood Thrushes and Lincoln’s Sparrow. On 9/23 he had CT, BT Blue, BT, Green Magnolia and B&W Warblers. At the RR tunnel near the upper end of Paulinskill Lake: N. Waterthrush, Purple Finch & Lincoln’s Sparrow.
9/22	Dennis Briede had 5 WT Sparrows in his yard in Blairstown, along with Parula and BT Green Warblers.
9/21	9/19 Raccoon Ridge sightings from Brian Hardiman: 1180 BW Hawks, 1 imm. Golden Eagle. 3 Bald Eagles, 5 Osprey, 20 Sharp-shins, 2 Coops, 1 RS Hawk, 3 Harrier, 7 Kestrel.
9/20	Stillwater: Tommy Sudol had an Olive-sided Flycatcher in the Trout Brook WMA on Owassa Rd.
9/19	Brian Hardiman sends highlights from Raccoon Ridge Hawkwatch. 9/15: 46 Osprey, 15 Bald Eagles, 102 Sharpies, 54 Kestrels, 11 Merlin. 9/16: 851 BW Hawks, 17 Bald Eagles (6 in 1 glass). 9/17: 1796 BW Hawks. 9/18: 12 Ravens in a flock, 1 imm. Goshawk.
9/17	Parson Rd. (DeLorme 23, B-28): Tommy Sudol had these warblers: Connecticut, Tennessee, B&W, BT Blue, Ovenbird, BT Green, Magnolia, Ches-sided & Yellowthroat. Also, BH Vireo.
9/16	Dennis Briede & Alan Boyd did a ‘Big Sit’ on Dennis’ deck at the base of the Kittatinny Ridge in Blairstown. They had 49 species including: 10 Sharpies, 5 Coops, 9 Kestrels, 1 RS Hawk, 1 Harrier, 172 BW Hawks, 1 Osprey, 13 Bald Eagles (6 in 1 kettle), Screech Owl, Pileated, Raven, 6 RB Nuthatches at feeders, RC Kinglet, Nashville & Pine W., Cape May W. at suet, & Purple Finch. Also, 5 Bears.
9/5	Tommy Sudol had a Phila. Vireo off Parson Rd. in Hampton Twp. Among birds he saw off Owassa Rd. in Stillwater were: 2 Purple Finches, Pine Warbler & RB Nuthatch.
9/4	Karyn Cichocki had a RB Nuthatch at her feeder in Lafayette.
9/3	Sunrise Mtn. Sat. & Mon.: John Fuller had a Coop, a Sharpie, 2 BW, a Parula W., several RB Nuthatches & 10+ Hummingbirds. At Hyper Humus: Merlin & Pileated. He also reports that the Trumpeter Swan is still at Swartswood Lake.
9/3	Dennis Pegg had a small flight of Nighthawks & a small flight of C. Swifts over Greendell.
9/3	Parson Rd.: Tommy Sudol had 8 species of warblers including Magnolia & Canada. Also, RB Nuthatch & YB Cuckoo. At a pond at the intersection of Swartswood & Junction Rds.: 32 Wood Ducks. At Liberty Loop: Semipalmated, Least, Pectoral, White-rumped & Baird’s S.P. Also: Great Egret, Semi Plovers, Snipe, Ls. Yellowlegs & GW Teal.

8/27	Tommy Sudol had Olive-sided FC, Osprey & C. Moorhen at Hyper Humus. At Parson Rd.: 7 species of warblers including Blackburnian, Great Egret, YB Cuckoo & 2 Purple Finches.
8/27	Hyper Humus: John Fuller had Green heron, Wood Ducks, Yellow W., YT Vireo, Osprey, Pileated, Marsh Wren & C. Moorhen. At Sunrise Mtn.: 2 Bald Eagles, 2 Ravens, 1 Sharpie, 3 RT Hummers & 14 Monarchs.
8/26	Stillwater: Tommy Sudol had a Chesnut-sided Warbler in his yard. His parents in Mecca Lake had a RB Nuthatch in theirs.

8/14	Blairstown: Dennis Briede had a Barred Owl calling near his house 2 nights ago and a pair of Screech Owls calling last night. Also, he had a RB Nuthatch at his feeder.
7/18	Lake Mohawk: Joe Zurovchak had GC Kinglet, Phoebe, Purple Martin & RB Nuthatch in his yard.
7/4	Kittatinny Valley S.P.: Peter Grannis noted a number of species feeding young including Yellowthroat, Yellow W., Indigo Bunting & Ovenbird. He also had Wood Ducks & an Acadian FC.
6/19	Alan and Cheryl Boyd had an immature Bald Eagle fly over their house in Flanders.
6/9	Fred Weber had a Kentucky Warbler at Culvers Lake, one mile in from Rt 206 on Upper North Shore Rd. There is a wet brushy area with a pullout on the left right there.

5/26	Alan Boyd had the 2 RH Woodpeckers and an Olive-sided Flycatcher at Trout Brook WMA in Stillwater, a half-mile hike off of Old Foundry Rd. He counted 41 Semipalmated Plovers at Hyper Humus.
5/24	Dennis Pegg had a RH Woodpecker in his yard in Stillwater.
5/23	Stillwater: Dennis Pegg had a Broad-wing in his yard and C. Nighthawks over the town. Also, a Coop took a Blue Jay at his feeders.
5/20	A NJAS walk led by Dennis Briede had Golden-winged W., Yellow-throated W. & RB Nuthatch at the Bluet Tract just south of Peter’s Valley. A Brewster’s W. was at the bridge in the Roy Tract just off of Rt. 615 north of the Walpack Inn.
5/19	Tom Halliwell had a Mourning Warbler at the Deer Lake section of Allamuchy S.P. It was in multiflora just beyond the gate at the last parking lot. At Ferla’s Pond in Hardwick, he had the Prothonotary first seen on the 15th. It was singing near the municipal bldg. parking lot on Spring Valley Rd.

5/17	Dennis Briede hiked the Rattlesnake Springs Trail in from Millbrook Gap and had Ruffed Grouse, singing Winter Wren & 16 species of warblers including Blackburnian, N. Waterthrush & BT Blue.
5/15	Wade & Sharon Wander report a singing Prothonotary W. at Ferla’s Pond in Hardwick on Spring valley Rd. Parking at the nearby municipal bldg. Also, they had a RH Woodpecker at the Trout Brook WMA in the beaver swamp off of Old Foundry Rd. in Stillwater.
5/13	Brian Hardiman had 21 species of warblers in Worthington S.P. including a Mourning W. He says that the Prothonotary reported at the mouth of the Flatbrook on 5/11 was seen across the river in PA on 5/13.
5/13	A Sussex Bird Club walk led by Dennis Briede near Millbrook Village had 71 species including Bald Eagle, C. Loon, BB Cuckoo & 17 species of warblers.
5/12	Tommy Sudol had a Bay-breasted W. in Flatbrookville; RB Nuthatch & Golden-winged W. in Flatbrook WMA; Bobwhite in Sandyston; Grouse heard in Walpack & Van Ness Rd.; YB Cuckoo, RN Duck, B. Eagles & Swainson’s Thrush at Little Swartswood Lake; Semi Plover, BW Teal, LB Heron & C. Nighthawks at Hyper Humus.
5/12	Creek Rd./Green Twp.: Mike Muller & his son Ethan had 2 Semipalmated Plovers, 2 Solitary Sandpipers & 25 Least Sandpipers.
5/12	Dennis Briede & Alan Boyd did a ‘big sit’ on Dennis’ deck in Blairstown. They had 72 species for the day including Raven, Bald Eagle, Woodcock, C. Loon, YB Cuckoo, Wilson’s Warbler & Junco.
5/11	Karyn Cichocki has Bobolinks across from her house in Lafayette.
5/11	Joe Zurovchak had 21 species of warblers in the Millbrook Village/Watergate area including : Cape May, Bay-breasted, N. Waterthrush & Tennessee. Also, BB Cuckoo. He had a Prothonotary where the Flat Brook flows into the Delaware at Walpack Bend.
5/10	Vernon Twp.: At the AT lands, Tom Halliwell had Grasshopper Sparrows, Bobolinks & Meadowlarks between the trail parking lot on Rt. 94 and Wawayanda Mtn. to the east. In the fields above the parking lot on Canal Rd. were 2 singing Orchard Orioles.
5/9	Alan Boyd had a King Rail calling around pond #5 at Hyper Humus. Also, 3 Dunlin on the mudflats before pond #1 and 2 Blackpoll Warblers in with Yellow-rumps near pond #5. (See the left sidebar on this page for a map of Hyper.)
5/9	Dennis Briede had an Indigo Bunting at his feeder in Blairstown and a Whip-poor-will calling on the Kittatinny Ridge behind his house.
5/8	Creek Rd./Green Twp.: Alan Boyd had an Am. Pipit & a dozen Least Sandpipers in a wet field at the end of the Trinca Airport runway.

5/2	Culvers Lake: Tommy Sudol had 17 Ruddys, a pair of WW Scoters, 5-6 Surf Scoters, a dozen Horned Grebes, 13 RB Mergs., 22 Long-tailed Ducks, 4 Gadwall, 40-50 Buffleheads, a C. Loon, 4 Spotted S.P., 5 Ls. Yellowlegs.
5/2	Alan Boyd & Dennis Briede had 88 species along the Old Mine Rd. including 20 species of warblers. Highlights: Yellow-throated W., Golden-winged, Blue-winged, Blackburnian, Cerulean, BT Blue, Nashville, Ches-sided, Hooded, RB Nuthatch, Veery, Least FC, Great-crested FC.
5/2	Stillwater: Dennis Pegg had many Goldfinches & White-throats in his yard along with 6-8 RB Grosbeaks.

4/22	Dennis Briede had a LA Waterthrush on Old Mine Rd., and a wave of RC Kinglets & a singing Thrasher in Blairstown. Also, he had nesting Ravens at Johnsonburg Swamp along with a singing Winter Wren.
4/16	Tommy Sudol had 3 WW Scoters on Culvers Lake. His parents have Fox & Chipping Sparrows in their yard in Stillwater.
4/14	John Fuller had a WC Sparrow on Stonebridge Rd. in Stillwater. At Little Swartswood Lake, he saw the nesting Bald Eagle chase an Osprey; and a RS Hawk harassing an imm. Bald Eagle.
4/13	Fred Weber had a RN Grebe, 14 Horned Grebes, 2 female RB Mergs., 3 C. Loons & at least 1000 Tree Swallows on Culvers Lake.
4/12	Culvers Lake: Fred Weber had 54 Bufflehead, 26 Ls. Scaup, 2 WW Scoters, a male Long-tailed Duck, 16 Horned Grebes, 6 C. Loons & 22 Bonys. Also a Hermit Thrush singing near the Stokes S.F. office in 36 degree weather.
