12/29	Roy Rd, Wantage: John Fuller had Harrier, RT Hawk, Tree Sparrows & 20+ WC Sparrows. At Liberty Loop on 12/26 he had 4 SE Owls, 2 Harriers, GBH, RT Hawks, 1 Rough-leg & 3 GHO’s calling.
12/23	Donna Traylor had 2 Siskins & many Purple Finches at her feeders in Frankford Twp.
12/20	Results from the Walnut Valley CBC 12/20: C Loon, WE Vireo, Redhead Duck, Gr Scaup, Snipe, Bald Eagle, Harrier, RS Hawk, Savannah Sp., Rough-leg, Ruffed Grouse, Peregrine (2), Phoebe, Catbird, BH Vireo, Snow Bunting, Horned Larks, Shoveler, Raven, Towhee, RB Nuthatch, Rusty BB & Siskin.

11/20	Kittatinny Valley SP: Tom Halliwell had a male Sapsucker, 2 flocks of 20+ Siskins, & a Woodcock. He also had a flock of 20+ Pipits in a pumpkin field on Henry Rd in Greendell.
11/19	Sunrise Mtn hawkwatch: Fred Weber had 15 WW Crossbills fly past and drop down the west side of the ridge. He also saw 3 local Bald Eagles (2 adult, 1 sub-adult).

11/11	Lake Lackawanna, Byram Twp: On a field trip led by Tom Halliwell, 7 Bald Eagles were seen together. Two adults were circling overhead as 5 immatures were perched in trees in a single lakeside yard.
11/11	Lake Hopatcong: Steve Fasciana had 2 Bonaparte's Gulls with several hundred other gulls on mud flats near O'Sullivan's Pub/Woodport House on Rt 181 in Woodport. Also there were C. mergs, an Osprey & 2 Ravens.

11/5	Alan Boyd had 5 or 6 Pine Siskins at his feeders in Flanders.
11/3	Fred Weber had a pale imm. Iceland Gull and 2 adult LBB Gulls among the 3000 or so gulls on Culver Lake.
11/2	Dennis Briede & Alan Boyd did a Big Sit on Dennis’ deck facing the Kittatinny Ridge near Blairstown. They had 46 species including 4 Bald Eagles, 2 Golden Eagles, 2 Sharpies, 13 Coops, 41 Red-tails, 1 Red-shouldered, 2 Sapsuckers, 1 Rusty BB, 15 Purple Finches & 50+ Pine Siskins. The highlight was an amazing 43 Ravens – all of which were seen moving SW along the ridge. One group held 22 birds.
11/1	Sunrise Mtn hawkwatch: Fred Weber & others had a Townsend’s Solitaire from about 9:30-9:35 a.m. (No further information available). The only previous record for this species in Sussex County was also Sunrise Mtn in 11/80. That bird stayed for several weeks.
10/30	Sunrise Mtn Hawkwatch: John Fuller had 3 Golden Eagles and over 2500 Robins passing over in the early morning. Later in the day, Wade Wander had a flyover Snow Bunting.
10/26	Blairstown: Dennis Briede had 2 Woodcock & a Golden Eagle from his property. He also had a Smooth Green Snake near Catfish Tower.
10/24	Tom Halliwell had 75+ Siskins on the NW side of Big Muckshaw Pond in the Muckshaw Pond Preserve of the Nature Conservancy. He also had 10-15 Siskins at Kittatinny Valley SP.

10/21	Picatinny Arsenal: Along the RR bed on the east side of Lake Denmark, Rick Radis had 100+ Siskins, 4 Evening Grosbeaks & calling Barred Owls. This section is open to the public. (DeLorme I,J15-16)
10/20	Tom Halliwell had a Blackpoll Warbler in his yard in Netcong. On White Lake in Kittatinny SP he had 20+ Am. Pipits, Killdeer, Ls Yellowlegs, GW Teal, Ring-necked Ducks & Am. Wigeon. The south end of Swartswood Lk had a Solitary Sandpiper. The pond at the corner of Junction & Swartswood Rds had 50+ GW Teal.
10/14	Kittatinny Valley SP: Tom Halliwell had 2 different Bald Eagles, an Orange-crowned Warbler by the Twin Lakes boat launch, a Pine Warbler, and 20 flyover Pine Siskins along the Sussex Branch Trail at White Lake. Rusty BB continue at White Lake along Goodale Rd.
10/13	Hyper Humus: Dennis Pegg had GHO, Screech Owl, imm. Bald Eagle, RS Hawk, 3 Coops, Juncos, WC Sparrows, Purple Finches, Palm, Pine & YR Warblers, and RT Hummingbird.
10/12	Dennis Briede & Alan Boyd did a Big Sit on Dennis’ deck facing the Kittatinny Ridge near Blairstown. They had 58 species including an imm. Golden eagle, 1 RS Hawk, 1 Osprey, 2 Harriers, 10 RT Hawks, 1 Kestrel, 17 Coops, 8 Sharpies, 1 Snow Goose w/ Canadas, 1 Screech Owl, 6 Ravens, 1 RB Nuthatch, both Kinglets, Hermit Thrush, BH Vireo, Myrtles, 1 Pine Warbler, 3 Palm Warblers, 1 BT Green, WT Sparrows, Juncos, 6 Purple Finches & 12 Pine Siskins.
10/12	Tom Halliwell led a walk at Kittatinny Valley SP that produced 1-2 Lincoln’s Sparrows, 2 White-crowned, 2-3 Juncos, 10+ Savannahs & 2 flyover Am. Pipits. About 75+ Rusty BB were along the Sussex Branch Trail at White Lake.
10/8	Hackettstown: At the House of the Good Shepherd on Willow Grove St, Sandy McPhail had YB Sapsucker, WT Sparrows & numerous Yellow-rumps.
10/7	John Fuller had a Great Egret at Rockport dam and GW Teal & Merlin at Liberty Loop. At Sunrise Mtn on 10/5, he had 100+ GC Kinglets, 50+ Yellow-rumps, 30+ BT Green Warblers & his first Juncos of the year. He had a Connecticut Warbler at Steammill Campground.

10/6	Blairstown: Dennis Briede & Alan Boyd had Harrier, Coop, RS Hawk, both Kinglets, Yellow-rumps, Veery, BH Vireo, Catbird & Pine Warbler at Dennis’ house. At Waterwheel Farm in Fredon, they had 3 Kestrels & 2 Palm Warblers. At Roy Rd in Wantage, they had a Bobcat, Bobolink, plus Lincoln’s, White-crowned, Savannah & Swamp Sparrows. They had a Bald Eagle & a Magnolia Warbler near Walpack Center.
10/6	Tommy Sudol saw Great Egret, Lincoln’s and Savannah Sparrows at Parson Rd in Hampton Twp. Near his house in Stillwater he had a Tennessee Warbler.
10/2	Frankford Twp.: Laura Obiso saw the Swallow-tailed Kite on Rt 519 between Rt 206 & the 4-way intersection where 519 turns left toward Newton. (DeLorme 19, M16-N16)
10/2	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki had flocks of Robins & Cedar WW in her yard. She also had a small group of Juncos on Snover Rd near Rt 15.
9/30	Sunrise Mtn: Jack Padalino had 2 Bald Eagles, 18 Red-tails, 15 Sharpies, 5 Kestrel, 2 Osprey, 2 Coops, 1 Red-shoulder, 2 Raven, 5 RB Woodpeckers, 5 Chimney Swifts, 2 Cedar WW, 2 BT Blue Warblers.
9/30	Parson Rd./Hampton Twp.: Tommy Sudol had a Connecticut Warbler. He also had Bobolinks in the marsh at the upper end of Paulinskill Lake.
9/29	Sunrise Mtn hawkwatch: Jack Padalino reports 2 Ravens, 13 Black Vultures, 15 Osprey, 10 Sharpies, 3 Bald Eagles, 1 Coop, 2 Harriers & 3 Kestrels.
9/25	Dennis Pegg had a Harrier with a Black Vulture over Ross’ Corner.
9/23	Tim Clauss had an immature Blackpoll Warbler in his yard in Sparta.
9/19	Brian Hardiman had a Swallow-tailed Kite from the hawkwatch at Raccoon Ridge above Blairstown. This is presumably the same bird that was reported on 9/17 by Giselle Smisko at the Kittatinny Mountain Raptor Center in Stokes S.F.
9/17	Owassa Rd/Stillwater: At the Trout Brook WMA, Tommy Sudol noted Phila, Blue-headed & RE Vireos, RB Nuthatch, Parula, Tennessee, Nashville, BT Blue, BT Green, Magnolia, Bay-breasted, Ches-sided, B&W, Redstart, RB Grosbeak & E Towhee.

9/14	Dennis Briede & Alan Boyd did a ‘Big Sit’ on Dennis’ deck facing the Kittatinny Ridge above Blairstown. They tallied 56 species including: DC Cormorant, 9 Bald Eagles, 6 Osprey, 1 Harrier, 4 Sharpies, 8 Coopers, 38 Red-tails, 31 Broad-wings, 3 Kestrel, Killdeer, Woodcock, 2 Screech Owls, 5 RT Hummers, Pileated, 6 Ravens, 120 Cedar WW, RE Vireo, BT Green, Blackburnian, Prairie Warblers, Redstart, Scarlet Tanager, Indigo Bunting, RB Grosbeak & Baltimore Oriole. They saw 1 Black Bear & heard several Coyotes.

7/23	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki had a Screech Owl calling at her house & a Turkey with 10 tiny chicks in her yard. A Grasshopper Sparrow was singing in the field across the street.
7/22	Fred Weber had 2 YB Chats at the north end of Paulinskill Lake (Parson Rd) about .2 miles east of the metal bridge. (DeLorme 28, B28). He also heard a Whip-poor-will calling behind his house (about a half mile NE of Culvers Gap).
7/7	Karyn Cichocki had a Grasshopper Sparrow singing across from her house in Lafayette.

5/25	Dennis Briede led a Sussex Bird Club walk on the Rattlesnake Spring Swamp/Appalachian Trail loop in Hardwick. Fifty-seven species were seen including 15 species of warblers. Highlights: Blackburnian, Canada, BT Blue, BT Green, Prairie, Hooded, Cerulean, Magnolia & Northern Waterthrush; Olive-sided FC, YB Cuckoo, Ruffed Grouse, Raven, and a 6-foot Black Rat Snake climbing a tree.
5/21	Steve Fasciana had a singing Willow Flycatcher and 15-20 Bank Swallows at the old Tilcon quarry off Waterloo Rd in Byram.
5/19	Tommy Sudol had a Mourning Warbler at Flatbrookville, his third of the season. The other two were at Millbrook Village & Walpack.
5/18	Blairstown: Alan Boyd & Dennis Briede did a ‘Big Sit’ on Dennis’ deck which looks over the Kittatinny Ridge. They had 72 species including Osprey, Bald Eagle, Harrier, both Cuckoos, Ravens, Parula, Blackpoll & YR Warblers, N Waterthrush, both Orioles, Purple Finches & Pine Siskins. Five Black Bears visited the yard during the morning.

5/14	Wade Wander had a Loggerhead Shrike in a field on the west side of Warbasse Junction Rd, about ½ mile south of Dana Drive.
5/13	Old Mine Rd: Linda Matula had a Tennessee Warbler just north of the Far View parking lot. She had a number of YB Cuckoos.
5/13	Alan Boyd had a Mourning Warbler at the Deer Lake section of Allamuchy State Park, about 200 yds past the first parking lot as you come in from Rt 517. It was in barberry on the right side of the road (DeLorme 23, N26)
5/11	Old Mine Rd.: Brian Hardiman had a Lawrence’s Warbler about 100 yds north of the Calno School on the east side of the road. The Brewster’s Warbler continues just south of the intersection at Millbrook Village where the wooden guard rail begins.
5/8	Millbrook Village area: Joe Zurovchak had 17 species of warblers including Bay-breasted & Golden-winged. Also a Grouse drumming. At the mouth of Flatbrook Creek, he had several Ceruleans & a Blackpoll.
5/7	Oberly Rd, Alpha: Dennis Briede had a flyover Sandhill Crane, nesting Osprey on a cell tower, Horned Larks, Savannah & Grasshopper Sparrows, Bobolink, Pheasant, Kestrel, Harrier & Thrasher.
5/7	Brian Hardiman had a Brewster’s Warbler singing a Blue-winged song near Millbrook. He also had a Lincoln’s Sparrow at his feeders in Columbia.

Twenty species of warblers including: Nashville, BT Green, BT Blue, Blackburnian, Worm-eating & Hooded.

4/29	Deer Lake: Tom Halliwell had 100-200 YR Warblers along with Blue-winged, Parula, Yellow, BT Green, Prairie, Palm, B&W, Redstart, Ovenbird, LA Waterthrush, Yellowthroat & Hooded. At Creek Rd in Green Twp he had 15+ Am Pipits, a Gr Yellowlegs and a few GW Teal.

4/27	Hyper Humus: Jim Zamos led a Sussex Co. Bird Club trip that had 82 species including: VA Rail, Sora, Pectoral & Solitary S.P., Barred Owl, Barn, Cliff & Bank Swallows, E Kingbird, Catbird, Warbling Vireo, Yellow, B&W & Worm-eating Warblers, both Waterthrushes, RB Grosbeak, B Oriole, and 50+ Purple Finches. Another group led by Ken Witkowski added C. Moorhen & Blue-winged W.
4/24	Steve Fasciana saw a Coyote at Black River WMA near the parking lot on Pleasant Hill Rd between Flanders Rd & Pride's Crossing Rd.

4/12	Tommy Sudol had a Black-and-white Warbler at Parson Rd – his earliest record for the species. He also had Blue-headed Vireo in his yard in Stillwater.
4/12	Creek Rd, Green Twp: Alan Boyd had a Lesser Black-backed Gull along with both Yellowlegs and a Pectoral Sandpiper.
4/11	Wade Wander, Sharon Wander, Peter Winkler & Alan Boyd had an Osprey at Waterwheel Farm in Fredon and another in Green Twp. while putting up Kestrel boxes for the club. They had a Chimney Swift at Greendell. A Dunlin was at Creek Rd with 6 Greater Yellowlegs and 1 Lesser. Alan Boyd had 2 Pine Siskins at his feeders.
4/10	Dennis Briede saw a Bobcat in his yard near Blairstown. He also had 2 Barred Owls flying over nearby Mohican Rd.

4/5	Creek Road, Green Twp: Wade & Sharon Wander had 85 Snipe, 75 Killdeer, 20 Am Pipits, 3 Greater Yellowlegs & 1 Pectoral S.P. At Swartswood Lake, they had 2 Horned Grebe, 7 PB Grebe, 1 C. Loon, 6 Redheads, Buffleheads, Ls. Scaup, DC Cormorants, Fish Crows & Coots.
4/3	Hyper Humus: Alan Boyd had 61 species including Greater Yellowlegs, BW Teal, Shoveler & an imm. Bald Eagle. At Creek Rd in Green Twp, there was a Snow Goose & a Great Egret in with Canadas.

3/31	Lynn Groves had a Palm Warbler at Kittatinny Valley S.P. This is 11 days earlier than her record of last year, and the earliest she has ever had one at the park.

3/28	Tommy Sudol had 13 Canvasbacks and 3 Bonapartes Gulls on Culver Lake. On Swartswood Lake, he had 10 RB Mergansers and the group of Redheads that have been there for several weeks.
3/27	Alan Boyd had 11 Redheads & between 10-15 Horned Grebes on Swartswood Lake. A Pectoral Sandpiper was with Killdeer & Snipe in flooded fields on Creek Rd (Green Twp) near the end of the Trinca Airport runway.
3/25	Barbara & Bill Katz had an imm. Bald Eagle at Lake Swannanoa in Oak Ridge. They recalled seeing a Goshawk in the same area in November.
3/25	Tim Clauss had a Horned Lark with 5 Killdeer in the parking lot near the dam on Pine Cliff Lake in West Milford.
3/21	Delaware Lk: Sandy McPhail had a pair of Am Wigeon, many RN Ducks & Buffleheads. Columbia Lk had Wood Duck, GW Teal, Tree Swallows, both Kinglets & Phoebe. The Osprey is back on the nest where Roy Cook Rd crosses Rt 80 in Knowlton.
3/21	Tim Clauss had 2 Horned Grebes, 1 PB Grebe, 2 C Goldeneye & a Ls Scaup on Lake Mohawk. On Culver Lake were 7 RN Ducks and 2 male Ls Scaup.
3/21	Karyn Cichocki reports 5 pair of GW Teal & 30 Killdeer on Decker Rd in Augusta (just S of Ross’ Corner). At the corner of Rt 94 & Sid Taylor Rd were several pair of Hooded Mergs. She has 5 Fox Sparrows at her feeders in Lafayette.
3/20	Tom Halliwell had 100+ Rusty BB along the boardwalk of the Appalachian Trail in Vernon. They were at the island between the suspension bridge over Pochuck Creek & the Rt 517 end of the boardwalk.
3/20	Swartswood Lake: Tommy Sudol had DC Corm, GW Teal, 2 PB Grebes, Horned Grebe, 17 Redheads, 5 Am. Wigeon & 1 C. Goldeneye at Hendershots Pt.
3/19	Sandy McPhail had a flock of Tree Swallows on the Delaware R near Portland PA. At her feeders in Portland, she had a pair of RB Nuthatches, a pair of B Creepers and a male YB Sapsucker.
3/18	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki had 4 Fox Sparrows at her feeders along with Songs and White-throats. Also many Goldfinches & a male Hairy W.P. Spring peepers were calling across the street from her house.
3/17	Swartswood Lk: Fred Weber had 12 Redheads (8 males, 4 females) in Hendershots Cove. Also 3 Bald Eagles (2 ad., 1 imm.) above the Culver Lk Clubhouse. A RC Kinglet was in his yard at Culver Lk.

3/14	Sussex Landfill: Jim Schlickenrieder had 2 LBB Gulls & a Herring x Glaucous hybrid (Nelson's Gull). Also Ravens & B Vultures. On North Church Rd, a Kestrel. At Paulinskill Lk, Tree Swallows, Redheads, Rusty BB & Pileated.
3/14	Glenn Mahler had the 2 Tundra Swans in a flooded field along Johnsonburg Rd about a quarter mile west of where they were seen on 3/13 on Long Bridge Rd.

3/2	John Fuller & Joe Earl had the N. Shrike & a Harrier on Roy Rd. At Parsons Rd., a GB Heron & 2 C. Mergansers. The Eagles were on the nest at Little Swartswood Lk.; and there were Buffleheads, Ring-necks & Ls. Scaup at the big Swartswood Lk. outflow.

3/1	Paulinskill WMA: Brian Clough had a N. Shrike on Parsons Rd. where it crosses the upper end of Paulinskill Lake. It was working the edge of the marsh on the right side of the road as you come from Junction Rd.(DeLorme 23, B28). He also noted that there are now 11 Redheads around Dove Island on Swartswood Lake.
2/27	Allamuchy Mtn. S.P.: Steve Fasciana had an imm. N. Shrike at the old Tilcon quarry ponds off of Waterloo Rd. (This area is accessible from Kinney Rd. DeLorme 23, M28) A Merlin was there also. Wood Ducks were on the nearby Musconetcong River.
2/25	Wallkill NWR: Ken Witkowski had a Nelson’s Sharp-tailed Sparrow on the Liberty Loop Trail in the marsh on the east side just before the Appalachian Trail comes out of the woods. He had Harriers, Rough-legs & SE owls also.

2/17	After the SCBC trip, John Fuller noted a GHO at Liberty Loop. He says that he has had an adult Bald Eagle there the last 3 times he’s been there.
2/17	A SCBC trip led by Jim Zamos in the Sussex area had 64 species including: 8 Redheads on Swartswood Lk.; a Goshawk on Mettler Rd. north of Dingman’s bridge; the Shrike at Layton & another one on Roy Rd. in Wantage just in from the intersection with Rt. 565; 2 Bald Eagles on their newly-reconstructed nest on Little Swartswood Lk.; C. Redpolls at a private feeder in Hampton; Short-ears & Rough-legs at Oil City Rd. in the Wallkill NWR.
2/16	Oil City Rd/Wallkill NWR: Tom Halliwell had 12 Short-eared Owls, 20+ Harriers and 5 light-phase Rough-legs.

1/26	Sandy McPhail noted that 2 Bald Eagles are fixing up the nest in the pine next to the Portland Generating Station. This is on the PA side of the Delaware south of Columbia.
1/26	Dennis Briede & Alan Boyd had a N. Shrike on Dennis’ property on Gaisler Rd. in Blairstown. Later on they had another N. Shrike just S of Peter’s Valley on 615. Where the road takes a right-angle jog to the right there is a cornfield. The bird was at the next treeline on the left (DeLorme 18, J-9). Also on Old Mine Rd. they had 4 B. Eagles, 650 Robins, 6 Sapsuckers, Field Sp., & GHO. A partially-albino Tree Sparrow was behind the Calno School w/ a mixed sparrow flock.

1/10	Sussex landfill, Lafayette: Fred Weber had 2 imm. Glaucous Gulls, 2 adult LBB Gulls, and a tan imm. Iceland Gull. Birders are reminded to sign in at the admin bldg and only bird where instructed. Hrs 7-2 M-Sa. He had an adult LBB and a white imm. Iceland at Culver Lake.
1/7	Beemerville: Fred Weber found a N. Shrike on Lusscroft Rd. by the field that goes up to the back of the cemetery. He had 25 C. Redpolls feeding on birch catkins at Wolfpit & Black Dirt Rds in Wantage. At Liberty Loop on Oil City Rd., 3 Rough-legs & 5 SE Owls.
