12/31	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki had 2 Purple Finches at her feeders and 5 Bluebirds at her bird bath.
12/30	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki had a flock of 500+ Grackles & Red-wings over the intersection of Rt 15 & Mud Cut Rd.
12/30	Swartswood Lake: Bill & Connie Warren had Redheads, C Goldeneye & Ring-necked Ducks. Also a Red Fox.
12/30	Pete Grannis had a C Redpoll on his deck at Sparta Mtn. He has had a couple of Pine Siskins on and off since Christmas Eve.
12/28	Alan Boyd had a single male Redhead at Hendershots Point on Swartswood Lake.
12/27	Lafayette: After the blizzard Karyn Cichocki had BC Chickadees, Titmice, Juncos, WT Sparrows, House Finches, Goldfinches, Cardinals, Blue jays, Cowbirds, a Robin, a Carolina Wren & a Hairy Woodpecker at her feeders.
12/22	Dave Spangenburg had a flock of White-winged Crossbills at the 4-H camp on Struble Rd in Stokes SF. This is the road that goes from Rt 206 to Tillman Ravine. He said they were in conifers near the camp buildings.
12/19	The Sussex CBC recorded 84 species including: American Wigeon, Red-breasted Merganser, Redhead, 7 Bald Eagles, Rough-legged Hawk, Virginia Rail, 2 Iceland Gulls, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Barred Owl, Gray Catbird, Baltimore Oriole & Pine Siskins. A Long-tailed Duck was seen on count week only.
12/19	Frankford Twp: Donna Traylor had a female Purple Finch and a small flock of Pine Siskins at her feeders.
12/18	TheWalnut Valley CBC had 90 species including Blue Goose, Cackling Goose, Pintail, Redhead, 10 Bald Eagles, 2 Golden Eagles, Red-shouldered Hawk, Kestrel, Merlin, 2 Peregrines, Ruffed Grouse, Snipe, Barred Owl, Horned Lark, Raven, Catbird, Towhee, Chipping Sparrow, Snow Bunting, Purple Finch, Pine Siskin, and a possible Clay-colored Sparrow. Mammals seen included 5 Black Bears, Opossum, Red Fox, Coyote, Otter and Mink.
12/18	Veteran Memorial Park, Stillwater: Mike Tracy photographed a Ruby-crowned Kinglet. Also at the park were a Yellow-rumped Warbler and a pair of adult Bald Eagles.	Photo
12/17	Culver Lake: Jack Padalino had Redhead, Ring-necked Duck, Long-tailed Duck, C Goldeneye, Bufflehead, Hooded Merganser, C Merganser, Ruddy Duck, Bald Eagle.
12/17	Swartswood Lake: Kayrn Cichocki had Hooded and Common Mergansers, Buffleheads. A pair of Bald Eagles was on Little Swartswood Lake.
12/16	Ken Witkowski had 3 Short-eared Owls and 4 N Harriers visible from the Liberty Loop parking lot at the Wallkill River NWR.
12/11	Blairstown: Dennis Briede, Tom Halliwell & Alan Boyd did a 'Big Sit' on Dennis' deck at the base of the Kittatinny Ridge. Thrity-four species were noted including 2 Screech Owls, 4 Pileated Woodpeckers, 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk, 1 Coopers Hawk, 2 Red-tailed Hawks, 1 adult Bald Eagle, 14 E Bluebirds, 62 Robins, 33 Cedar WW, 2 Purple Finches, 3 Flickers, 2 Tree Sparrows, 1 Fox Sparrow and 1 RB Nuthatch. One Black Bear was also seen.
12/11	On Lake Susquehanna in Blairstown, Wade & Sharon Wander had 2 Great Blue Herons, 45 Ring-necked Ducks, and 1 drake Wood Duck. On big Swartswood Lake: 1 PB Grebe, 2 C Loons, 2 GBH, 50 Gadwall, 5 drake Wood Ducks, 1 drake GW Teal, and 40 Hooded Mergs. Also: C Mergs, Ring-necked Ducks, Buffleheads, C Goldeneyes, Mallards & Black Ducks.
12/7	Lake Musconetcong: From the Rt 183 end of the lake, Tom Halliwell observed a drake Redhead, a female C Goldeneye, several Ruddy Ducks, Lesser Scaup, Hooded Mergs and Buffleheads. Also a DC Cormorant.
12/6	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki had Red-breasted Nuthatch and many American Goldfinches in her yard. A few Pine Siskins were there last week.
11/26	Lafayette: In her yard, Karyn Cichocki had Fox Sparrow, a pair of Hairy Woodpeckers, and seven Cardinals.
11/24	Steve Fasciana had an adult Bald Eagle at Twin Lakes in Kittatinny Valley State Park. Some American Tree Sparrows were also present there.
11/22	Bob Templin reports that there have been about 100 Ruddy Ducks on Lake Susquehanna in Blairstown for the last two weeks.
11/22	Marge Barrett & Joe Burgiel had 60+ C Goldeneye and 7-8 Horned Grebes on Culver Lake. Swartswood Lake had Gadwall, Hooded Mergs, a Ruddy Duck, Horned Grebes, a Pied-billed Grebe and a C Loon.
11/20	Sunrise Mtn hawkwatch: Fred Weber had 2 Golden Eagles, 4 Bald Eagles, an immature N Goshawk, a female N Harrier, a Merlin, and 10 Red-tails.
11/19	Mike Gannon heard a Great Horned Owl from his yard in Augusta.
11/19	Fred Weber had an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull at the Sussex landfill in Lafayette. A Red-throated Loon, a male Redhead and 4 Horned Grebes were on Culver Lake.
11/18	Culver Lake: Fred Weber had a male Redhead at the causeway end of the lake along with a female RB Merganser and other ducks. A Red Bat was flying over his house near the lake at 2 p.m.
11/18	Jim Zamos had a Glaucous Gull at Hyper Humus. It was near pond #1, which is the pond closest to the Paulinskill Valley Trail crossing.
11/16	Jim Zamos had 5 Tundra Swans on pond #8 in Hyper Humus. (See the link to the left for a printable map of Hyper.)
11/14	Blairstown: Dennis Briede, Wade Wander and Alan Boyd did a Big Sit on Dennis' deck at the base of the Kittatinny ridge. Thrirty-nine species were noted including 1 E Screech Owl, 317 Am Robins, 2 Purple Finch, 5 Pine Siskins, 9 Flickers, 5 Pileated WP, 13 E Bluebirds, 21 Cedar WW, 10 Sharp-shins, 6 Coopers, 1 N Harrier, 13 Red-tails, 2 Red-shouldereds, 5 C Ravens, 2 RB Nuthatches, 1 Chipping Sparrow, 1 Fox Sparrow, 5 RB Gulls.
11/13	A field trip at Kittatinny Valley State park led by Tom Halliwell and Joe Burgiel had an Orange-crowned Warbler. It was well seen by the whole group in the fields north of Twin Lakes (off Goodale Rd.)
11/11	Tom Halliwell and Alan Boyd had the Red-throated Loon at Culver Lake. Also on the lake were 20 C Goldeneye and a male Redhead. The Redhead was with Ring-necks in the cove behind the vegetable stand on Rt 206 (near Myrtle Ave). A Pectoral Sandpiper was with Killdeer at the causeway at the back of the lake.
11/9	Fred Weber had a Red-throated Loon on Culver Lake.
11/7	Karyn Cichocki had an Osprey at Swartswood Lake and large groups of C Mergansers at Paulinskill Lake.
11/7	Sunrise Mtn hawkwatch: Scott Rando photographed three Bald Eagles together and a pair of C Ravens harassing a Red-tail. Also noted at the watch: 2 Golden Eagles, 5 Red-tails, a Sharp-shin and a Red-shouldered Hawk.	Photo Photo

10/30	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki had about 20 Pine Siskins and 10 Purple Finches at her feeders.
10/26	At her feeders in Andover Twp, Merle Tanis had numerous Pine Siskins and Purple Finches.
10/26	Linda Matula and George Eschenbach had 23 American Pipits in the plowed field near Twin Lakes in Kittatinny Valley SP. At the quarry area off Kinney Rd in Mt Olive, they had 5 Vesper Sparrows, a N Harrier, a RS Hawk and many Palm Warblers.
10/25	Kittatinny Valley SP: Tom Halliwell had a subadult Golden Eagle over the park office. At White Lake he had Coots, Ring-necked Ducks, Wood Ducks, BW Teal, Killdeer, a Pectoral Sandpiper, a Lesser Yellowlegs. On the trail by the Twin Lakes parking lot there were WC Sparrows, Rusty Blackbirds, Purple Finches, Palm Warblers and American Pipits.
10/24	In her yard in Lafayette, Karyn Cichocki had Red-winged Blackbird, GC Kinglet and RE Vireo.
10/23	Scott Rando had 6 Buffleheads on Walker Lake in Shohola PA.
10/22	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki had a lot of activity at her feeders, including Purple Finches, Pine Siskins and a Red-breasted Nuthatch.
10/21	Stillwater: Glenn Mahler had 15-20 Pine Siskins at his feeders, along with 8-12 Purple Finches.
10/21	Kittatinny Valley S.P.: Steve Fasciana had 4 White-crowned Sparrows along with Savannah, Field and Swamp Sparrows, Purple Finches and American Pipits at the Twin Lakes boat launch.
10/20	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki has had a group of seven Purple Finches at her feeders for the last two weeks.

10/7	Scott Rando had a family of four Red-shouldered Hawks at Walker Lake in Shohola PA. He reports the first Golden Eagle of the season at Sunrise Mtn was seen on 10/2.

10/3	Portland, PA: Sandy McPhail had her first WT Sparrow of the season at her feeder. Also in her yard: female RB Grosbeak, female Purple Finch, Brown Thrasher.

10/1	Blairstown: Dennis Briede had a Monk parakeet at his feeder. He also had a Barred Owl calling across the street from his house.
9/30	Bill Warren heard an E Screech Owl calling in his yard in Sparta.
9/29	Merle Tanis had a Barred Owl calling at her house in Andover Twp.

9/26	Hackettstown: Tom Halliwell had an Orange-crowned Warbler at the Alumni Field/Sandbar Park. It was right along the river where the open grassy area meets the forest.

9/17	Blairstown: Blaine Rothauser, Alan Boyd & Dennis Briede did a Big Sit at Dennis' house at the base of the Kittatinny Ridge. Forty-nine species were noted including 2 E Screech Owls, 2 Wood Thrush, 2 RB Nuthatches, 53 Cedar WW, 5 RT Hummingbirds, 5 Purple Finches, 1 Olive-sided FC, 1 Swainson's Thrush, 2 Pileated WP, 1 Scarlet Tanager, 1 Magnolia Warbler, 3 RB Grosbeaks, 10 C Ravens, 1 Am Kestrel, 11 Sharp-shins, 6 Coopers, 342 Broad-wings, 1 N Harrier, 2 Osprey, 3 Bald Eagles. One Black Bear was also seen.
9/16	Scott Rando reported that the hawk migration has been picking up at Sunrise Mtn the past few days. On the 16th, 434 Broad-wings were seen.	Photo Photo

9/5	Liberty Sod Farms: Brian Hardiman had a Buff-breasted Sandpiper, 3 Pectoral Sandpipers, and 3 Am Golden Plovers.
9/4	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki had a female/immature Redstart at her birdbath. A female hummingbird flew through the spray as she was watering her lawn.
9/4	Linda Matula had the Upland Sandpiper at the Great Meadows sod farms at the SW corner near the goat pen. It was with two Pectoral Sandpipers and numerous Killdeer..
9/4	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki had RB Nuthatches, Scarlet Tanager, N Oriole and YT Vireo in her yard. She also had a female Turkey with 10 small chicks on the Paulinskill Valley Trail.
9/4	Alan Boyd had an Upland Sandpiper at Liberty Sod Farms in Great Meadows. A Merlin was also present, flushing up a number of Killdeer.

8/30	Linda Matula had one - or possibly two - Cape May Warblers in the Norway spruces at the Watergate Recreation Area on Old Mine Rd. She also had four different groups of Red-breasted Nuthatches along the road.
8/29	Karyn Cichocki had Red-eyed and Warbling Vireos singing in the woods near the Dingman's bridge over the Delaware.

Forty-six species were noted including: 3 E Screech Owls, 20 RT Hummingbirds, 111 Cedar WW, 7 E Bluebirds, 2 RB Nuthatches, 1 Wood Thrush, 3 Purple Finches, 4 Pileated WP, 2 RB Grosbeaks, 1 Least FC, 1 Magnolia Warbler, 2 E Kingbirds, 1 Scarlet Tanager, 1 SS Hawk, 1 imm Bald Eagle, 1 BW Hawk, 1 RS Hawk, 2 Great Egrets. A coyote was seen being chased by 4 deer.
8/21	Alan and Cheryl Boyd had a pair of Common Nighthawks over their house in Roxbury.

8/6	Karyn Cichocki had E Screech Owl and E Pewee in her yard in Lafayette.
7/29	Lafayette: Karyn Cichocki had an E Screech Owl calling in her yard. Also seen were E Kingbird, GC Flycatcher and Phoebe.
7/28	Hackettstown: At the old fish hatchery, Steve Fasciana had 9 Least Sandpipers, 10 Killdeer, a Great Egret and a Green Heron. A Spotted Sandpiper was there earlier in the month.
7/20	Blairstown: Dennis Briede did a 'Big Sit' on his deck at the base of the Kittatinny Ridge. He had 50 species including: 3 E Screech Owls, 2 Indigo Buntings (1 at a feeder), 1 Wood Thrush, 2 RE Vireos, 1 Killdeer, 1 E Towhee, 2 B&W Warblers, 1 Prairie Warbler, 7 E Bluebirds, 2 Coopers Hawks, 1 GC Flycatcher, 2 RS Hawks, 2 Green Herons, 1 C Raven, 1 RB Grosbeak, 2 B Thrashers, a Wild Turkey with 8 young. Also seen: a Black Bear and a 10-point buck.

Sixty-six species were noted including B Thrasher, Indigo Bunting, Blue-winged, Blackpoll, Black-and-White, Myrtle, Magnolia & Yellow Warblers, Louisiana Waterthrush, Turkey, DC Cormorant, 3 Bald Eagles, 2 Osprey, 2 Red-shouldered Hawks, YB Cuckoo, E Pewee, Wood Duck and Pileated WP. Four bears were seen.

3/27	Peter Grannis had a Winter Wren in his yard on Sparta Mtn. He noted that the Sparta Mtn WMA has a large population of Wood Frogs along Edison Rd near the Edison monument.

3/26	Karyn Cichocki heard Wood Frogs and Spring Peepers near her house in Lafayette. Goldfinches that are molting to breeding plumage are coming to her feeders.
3/23	Portland PA: Sandy McPhail had a Chipping Sparrow at her feeder and a female YB Sapsucker at her suet. An Osprey has returned to to the nest on Marshfield Rd off River Rd near the Portland Generating Station.
3/23	Lake Musconetcong: Steve Fasciana had Lesser Scaup, 3 Horned Grebes and an Osprey.
3/21	John Fuller had a N Goshawk on Rt 206, 1/4 mile south of Old Mine Rd. He had several Phoebes on Mettler Rd and 11+ Fox Sparrows on Rt 615. Swartswood Lake had PB Grebe, Bufflehead, RN Ducks and C Mergansers. Both Bald Eagles were at the nest on Little Swartswood Lake.
3/16	Fredon: Wade & Sharon Wander had a GHO calling in their backyard and Woodcock displaying in the frontyard at the same time. They encourage people to get out and listen to the Wood Frog chorus over the next 7-10 days. Any vernal pond will do, with Ferla’s Pond at the Hardwick municipal building being a prime spot.
3/15	Marge Barrett had a flock of Snow geese behind the ‘Tea Hive’ on Rt 94 in Fredon.

3/7	Glenn Mahler had the Whooper Swan further back in the plowed fields on Roy Rd. There were also Killdeer and numerous blackbirds. He had a Rough-leg at Winding Brook Farm on Rt 565 north of Ross’ Corner.

They had 38 species including 4 Screech Owls, 2 GHO, 7 Bluebirds, 1 GC Kinglet, 2 Pileated WP, 8 Tree Sparrows, 3 Fox Sparrows, 90 Red-winged BB, 150 Robins, 1 RS Hawk, 1 Coopers Hawk, 2 RT Hawks, 1 imm Bald Eagle, 1 Purple Finch, 2 Ravens, 1 C Grackle & 1 Chipmunk.
