Birding the Sussex County Landfill
in Lafayette, NJ

The landfill is located on Route 94 just north of the intersection with Route 15.

Enter the landfill from Route 94.
Bear left then left again to the Administration building.

Sign in with the receptionist on the second floor. And sign out again when you leave.

Walk back up almost to 94 and go left at the fire hydrant.

On the rise above the hydrant you can scope the gulls on the rooftops.

Then go up past the two trailers to a spot that overlooks the landfill.

They are just starting to put garbage in the new section at the
bottom and the gulls congregate on the slope of
the old landfill right out in front of this spot.
